Lambda Introduces New Compact, Low Cost DC-DC Converters

SAN DIEGO, CA (September 25, 2006) - Lambda has introduced a broad range of low cost, compact DC-DC converters that utilizes less circuit board area. RoHS compliant, the new CC-E series of 1.5- to 25-watt converters are designed for use in a number of applications, ranging from process control to communications equipment.

The Lambda CC-E series comprises of 68 models, with power ratings of 1.5-, 3-, 6-, 10-, 15 and 25-watts. Models with a power rating of 10-watts or less can be supplied with a choice of 5-, 12-, 24- and 48-volt nominal input voltages, and with a 3.3-, 5-, 12-, 15-, ±12 and ±15-volt outputs. The 15-watt and 25-watt models are available with a 24-volt input and output voltages of 3.3 and 5-volt outputs. The dual output units can be configured as 24 or 30-volt single outputs.

The six package sizes measure from 0.65 x 0.654 x 0.335 inches (1.5-watt models) to 1.7 x 1.77 x 0.295 inches (25-watt models). The new DC-DC converters are smaller than currently offered packages, allowing designers to reduce the circuit board area needed for their power supplies. A choice of through-hole or surface mount placement is available.

No potting is used in the manufacture to reduce weight – just 3.2 grams for the 1.5-watt models. The metal case provides shielding to reduce radiated EMI and allows for easy vacuum pick up during automated machine placement.

The CC-E series operate from -40°C to +85°C ambient and have an input to output isolation of 500-volts AC. A remote on-off and output trim feature is available on all models. In addition to being RoHS compliant, all models conform to UL60950-1, CSA 60950-1, and EN60950-1 standards.

The CC-E models are available now, with prices starting at $7.10 each in thousand-unit quantities. More information can be obtained at Lambda's Web site,
