Lambda Adds New Dual-Output, RoHS-Compliant DC-DC
Converters in Ultra-Compact, Lightweight Packages
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 20, 2005) - Lambda has expanded its ultra-compact, lightweight PS
family of DC-DC converters with a new dual-output series. RoHS compliant, the new PSD
series 1.5- to 10-watt converters are designed for use in a number of applications, ranging from
factory automation to communications equipment.
The Lambda PSD series comprises 16 models, with power ratings of 1.5, 3, 6 and 10
watts; each power rating can be supplied with a choice of 5-, 12-, 24- and 48-volt nominal input
voltages, as well as an adjustable output of ±12 to ±15 volts. The dual output can also be
configured as a 24- or 30-volt single output.
The four compact package sizes measure from just 0.79 x 0.63 x 0.31 inches (1.5-watt
models) to 1.61 x 1.02 x 0.31 inches (10-watt models). PSD models produce twice the output
power as comparably-sized DC-DC converters, allowing designers to upgrade their systems
without changing board layouts. Moreover, a unique ventilated case minimizes the units' weight
– just 4 grams for the 1.5-watt models, 14 grams for the 10-watt models.
PSD series units operate from -40°C to +85°C full load with an airflow of 1 meter per
second. Input-to-output isolation is 500 volts AC. In addition to being RoHS compliant, all
models conform to UL60950-1, CSA 60950-1, and EN60950-1 standards.
The PSD series is available now, with prices starting at $17.25 in single-unit quantities.
