Sustaining Engineer, Jr.

TDK-Lambda Americas Inc., a world class manufacturer and distributor of electronic power supplies, seeks a qualified Sustaining Engineer, Jr. to coordinate engineering product support and support manufacturing on all engineering issues. This is a temporary to possible hire position based in San Diego, CA.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Evaluates component substitution requests, identifies suitable replacements and performs all testing required to confirm functionality
  • Creates test plans, performs tests and writes test reports to be presented to R&D for approval
  • Prepares and researches Engineering Change Orders to support required engineering changes to product
  • Understand circuit schematics related to power supply applications and analyze those circuits in terms of functionality down to the component level
  • Plans and formulates engineering program support according to project requirements
  • Performs engineering tasks to support and sustain assigned products
  • Coordinates activities concerned with suppliers, vendors on technical issues related to each product line resolving engineering problems
  • Must be familiar with the use of: DVMs, oscilloscopes, power sources, electronic loads, soldering / de-soldering equipment, thermocouples, environmental chambers, and the design and fabrication of test fixtures

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEET/BSEE) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Experience with magnetic components a plus
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondences
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Successful candidate will be highly motivated, team oriented, well-organized, and have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
