Remote Control Interface Descriptions

500A, 102A, 152A and 202A
This series of power supply feature a 15pin D-type remote interface located on the AC input panel of the supply. The table below shows details of the function and the pin-out for the connector.

ENABLE/RESET

INPUT

A high signal (+10 to 15V) with respect to ground (pin 14) will enable the power supply. Latching faults can be cleared by cycling this switch. Ground or open disables the supply.

V PROGRAM

INPUT

A 0-10V signal with respect to ground at this pin programs the output voltage proportionally from zero to rated output.

VPEAK

OUTPUT

A 0-10V signal (with respect to ground) proportional to the peak of the output charging voltage. Can be used to drive a meter displaying peak output voltage.

VANALOG

OUTPUT

0-10V analog of output charging voltage waveform (+/- 1%).

INHIBIT

INPUT

A +10 to 15V with respect to ground, disables the unit. Open or ground allows operation. This input can be used to disable charging during HV switch recovery.

+15V

OUTPUT

15V regulated. Can be used for user programming applications 20mA max.

GND

OUTPUT

Control circuit return. Also chassis/earth ground

INHIBIT LED

OUTPUT

Open collector. Indicates that the power supply is receiving an INHIBIT signal.

EOC LED

OUTPUT

Open collector. Indicates that the power supply is reaching end-of-charge, i.e. the V PROGRAM set point.

SUMMARY FAULT LED

OUTPUT

Open collector. Indicates an output overvoltage. Temperature fault or low input voltage condition.

LOAD FAULT LED

OUTPUT

Indicates a shorted O/P or a very large load capacitor.


402, 802 and XR802
These power supplies feature a common interface via a 25pin D-type connector located on the rear panel of the unit. The table below shows details of the function and the pin-out for the connector.

7 INHIBIT INPUT 5 to 15V inhibits unit operation, Open or Gnd allows operation. Use this signal to disable charging during HV switch recovery
8 ENABLE/RESET INPUT 15V = High Voltage On, Gnd or open = High Voltage Off
9 VPEAK OUTPUT 0-10V Peak detector of output waveform
10 HV ON LED OUTPUT Open collector output. Indicates the HV is ON

22 V PROGRAM INPUT 0-10V signal = 0 to 100% of rated voltage
23 HV OFF LED OUTPUT Open collector output. Indicates the HV is OFF

25 +12V LED OUTPUT 12V at 100mA max for powering status LEDs


LC1202
This power supply features an interface similar to the 402/802/XR802 with some additional signals, via a 25pin D-type connector located on the rear panel of the unit. The table below shows details of the function and the pin-out for the connector.

203 and 303

5 EXCESS REVERSAL LED OUTPUT Open collector. Senses excess reversal in output circuit.
6 COOLANT WARNING LED OUTPUT Open collector. Active is the coolant level is low
7 OVER VOLTAGE LED OUTPUT Open collector. Senses excess voltage at the output.
8 ARC LED OUTPUT Open collector. Senses arcing in the HV tank.
9 AUTO DWELL INPUT 0-10V for autoinhibit control.
Range 1, 0-10V = 0.5 to 5ms
Range 2, 0-10V = 5 to 50ms
10 ENABLE/RESET INPUT 15V = High Voltage On, Gnd or open = High Voltage Off
11 V PROGRAM INPUT 0-10V signal = 0 to 100% of rated voltage

20 PURGE PUMP LED OUTPUT Open collector output. Indicates the internal purge pump is operating
21 DIGITAL GND Common ground for digital circuits
22 INHIBIT INPUT >3V inhibits unit, 0V allows operation
23 ANALOG GND Use for reference of any analog inputs or outputs
24 +11V DC OUTPUT Regulated +11V output for references
25 VOLT METER OUTPUT +10V DC indicates max voltage
